Some Questions You May Have
Does it Hurt?Acupuncture is not free from any sensation, but nor is it very painful. The needles are very fine and when inserted, the sensation has been described as feeling like a small 'flick' against the skin. When the needle reaches your qi, you may feel an ache, electrical tingling or sensation of warmth - the feeling is individual to each person and the condition of their qi. I only use single use, sterile, disposable needles.
Does it work?
This system has been used for over 2,000 years, and there is well documented evidence that acupuncture is an effective treatment. Western medicine agrees that acupuncture is effective in the treatment of muscular-skeletal problems, pain, headaches, rheumatism, stress, and many more conditions.
Who has acupuncture?
My patients have encompassed an age range from teens to 80's, from all backgrounds, with a diverse range of complaints.
How many treatments will I need?
This is difficult to predict, as each person has such an individual response, dependent on how long they have been ill, and the state of their energy when they first come to acupuncture. Six treatments would be a broad guide initially, unless the condition is long-standing, but many people notice an improvement in their well being after the first treatment.
If you are coming with a menstrual/ gynaecology related problem, then I would expect to be treating you for at least three menstrual cycles.
